Shamira Barrett

Shamira Barrett is in her third year as a volunteer assistant on the Tennessee State track and field teams in 2016-17.

A standout during her track and field career at Jacksonville State, Barrett was a two-time NCAA Regional qualifier. She won Ohio Valley Conference Championships for the indoor and outdoor 200m in 2013 and the 100m and 200m at the OVC Outdoor Championship.

Early in her career, Barrett earned OVC Freshman of the Year for the indoor and outdoor season. She went on to set JSU school records for the indoor 200m (24.2) and the outdoor 200m (23.6).

Barrett is USATF Level I Certified as a coach.

The native of Adairsville, Ga. graduated from Jacksonville State in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and wellness.
