NASHVILLE, Tenn. – De’Ante Saunders and Nick Thrasher were named to Associated Press (AP) All-American Teams, Wednesday.
Playing in just his second season at TSU, Saunders made the AP’s Second Team after contributing to the OVC’s top total defense (303.2 yards per game) and pass defense (153.3 yards per game).
Saunders was also named First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference while leading the league with five interceptions on the season while also tallying 51 tackles and six pass breakups.
The DeLand, Fla. product’s five picks were the seventh-most by a Tiger in TSU’s 102-year history.
Thrasher made the Third Team following a season in which he tallied 128 stops, sixth-most in a single-season in school history and the highest total for a Tiger since 1991.
The Morrow, Ga. native was second in the Ohio Valley Conference in tackles to go along with his 11.5 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 sacks.
The senior also moved up to second-place in tackles in the TSU record book over the course of the season, finishing with 358. Thrasher was First Team All-OVC last season, too.
The four-year starter intercepted the first pass of his career this season against Florida A&M.
