NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tigers are coming to the end of camp and will close it out with a scrimmage on Saturday evening and Fan Day on Sunday. The weekend opens with a workout at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday and is highlighted with the second full scrimmage of camp at 5:15 p.m., which is open to the public. The festivities for Fan Day on Sunday will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will last until 5:00 p.m.
On Wednesday morning, the Tigers went through a highly contested and tension filled practice. Both sides had success with intense hitting setting the tone of the day.
Thursday morning the team moved indoors due to rain and poor field conditions. The day saw a heavy concentration on special teams, concluding with a distance sudden-death competition in field goals between sophomore Lane Clark and freshman Mitchell Boudreaux. Clark pulled off the victory with a 47-yarder, as Boudreaux’s attempt dipped just under the crossbar.
The afternoon session began with Assistant Head Coach Jeff Parker passing on the news of practice being replaced with a trip to the movies.
The Tigers returned to the practice field on Friday morning to get back to business. After special teams and position drills, the squad squared off in a 7-on-7 and a live 25-scripted play tussle.
Again, both sides encountered wins with the offensive line providing a solid showing in protection, giving up few pressures on both quarterbacks.
TSU will focus on special teams during the morning practice, as they prepare for the evening scrimmage.
