TIGERS LOSE IN FINAL SECONDS ON 3-POINT FIELD GOAL
RICHMOND, Ky. --- Eastern Kentucky's Matt Witt connected on a 3-point field goal with 5.4 seconds left to lift the host Colonels to a 68-65 win over visiting Tennessee State Monday night, spoiling the Tigers second-half comeback bid. The Tigers had opportunities to break the 65-65 tie, but missed a pair of opportunities to give EKU the basketball back with 41 seconds remaining. After Witt's shot, the Tigers Garrett Richardson's 3-pointer bounced off the rim at the buzzer. Bruce Price led TSU with 25 points while Richardson finished 17 points and Roshaun Bowens scored 10. Jon Bentley led EKU with 22 points while Ben Rushing added 13 off the bench. Witt finished with 13. TSU (4-17, 4-6) returns home to host Eastern Illinois on Thursday night. EKU improves to 9-12 and 4-6.
