OPENING TIP: The TSU men’s basketball team will host Tennessee Tech on Saturday as part of an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader at the Gentry Center. The women’s game gets underway at 2 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 4 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: The Tigers picked up a 67-60 win over Jacksonville State behind a 20-point effort from senior guard Delano Spencer. The score was tied 25-25 at the half before TSU pulled away by outscoring the defending OVC Champs by a 42-35 margin in the second half. TSU shot 47.9 percent from the floor and forced 16 turnovers in the victory. Armani Chaney put together an impressive performance with 14 points, six assists and five steals.

ABOUT TENNESSEE TECH: Four Golden Eagles are averaging double figure points led by Aleksa Jugovic’s 14.1 points per game. Tennessee Tech, which is 10-6 overall, won its first two Ohio Valley Conference games over Morehead State and EKU before an 80-67 loss at Belmont on Jan. 4.

LAST SEASON VS. TENNESSEE TECH: TSU and Tennessee Tech split last year’s meetings with both teams winning on the road. The Tigers fell by an 80-74 margin at the Gentry Center in the first meeting on Jan. 19, 2017. Less than a month later in Cookeville, Tenn. on Feb. 9, TSU held Tennessee Tech to 19 first-half points en route to a 72-59 win.  Among TSU’s returners, Ken’Darrius Hamilton and Delano Spencer were the leading scorers for the Tigers, putting up 13.0 points per game apiece.

ALL-TIME SERIES: The all-time series with Tennessee Tech is tied at 32-32. The Tigers are 3-3 against the Golden Eagles under fourth-year Head Coach Dana Ford.

UP NEXT: The Tigers head to Charleston, Ill. for a road test at Eastern Illinois on Thursday, Jan. 11. The game, which will air live on national TV on CBS Sports Network, will tip at 6 p.m. The game can also be heard on 102.1 The Ville.
