  • During the indoor season, Tennessee State earned five OVC Weekly Awards.
    • 1/11/17 – Quamel Prince – Track Athlete of the Week
    • 1/11/17 – Kareem Nicholas – Field Athlete of the Week
    • 1/18/17 – Quamel Prince – Co-Track Athlete of the Week
    • 2/8/17 – Quamel Prince – Track Athlete of the Week

  • At the conclusion of the regular season for indoor, senior Quamel Prince was voted OVC Track Athlete of the Year by the league’s coaches.

  • At the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championship, held in Charleston, Ill, TSU won eight individual medals and a silver in the 4x400m relay.

  • Tennessee State tied for second at the OVC Indoor Championship with 120 points. It was the highest team finish in program history.

  • During the outdoor track and field season, TSU won five Ohio Valley Conference weekly awards.

  • At the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championship, held in Oxford, Ala., TSU won eight individual medals to go with the team’s gold medal in the 4x400m relay and a bronze in the 4x100m relay.

  • TSU finished fourth at the OVC Outdoor Championship with 129 points.

  • Quamel Prince (800m), Kareem Nicholas (Long Jump) and Kyle Washington-Scott (Shot Put) all qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round in Lexington, Ky.

  • Quamel Prince qualified for the USATF Outdoor Championships held at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium for the 800m. He finished in 19th place with a time of 1:48.52.

  • In Tennessee State’s five cross country meets during the 2016 season, Quamel Prince was TSU’s top finisher in all five.

  • The Tigers placed 12th at the OVC Cross Country Championship with 367 points led by Quamel Prince’s 53rd place finish in 27:29.8.

  • On Sept. 27, 2016, Quamel Prince was named Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Male Runner of the Week. It was the first time in program history that the men’s cross country team won an OVC weekly award.
