  • OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM FINISHES
    • Cross Country – 12th out of 12 (382 points)
    • Indoor Track and Field – 5th out of 7 (82 points)
    • Outdoor Track and Field – 6th out of 8 (95 points)

  • During the indoor track and field season, Tennessee State earned six OVC Weekly Awards.

  • For their performances during the indoor season, senior James Faison earned Ohio Valley Conference Track Athlete of the Year, and freshman R’Lazon Brumfield secured OVC Freshman of the Year and Co-Field Athlete of the Year.
  • At the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championship, held in Charleston, Ill., TSU won six individual medals and one in the 4x400m relay.

      • 60m Hurdles – Jemarruse Amos – 8.12
      • 200m – James Faison – 21.78

      • Triple Jump – R’Lazon Brumfield  - 15.23m (49’11.75”)

  • For his performance at the OVC Indoor Track and Field Championship, James Faison was named OVC Athlete of the Championship.

  • During the outdoor track and field season, Tennessee State earned five OVC Weekly Awards.

    • OVC Outdoor Track and Field Championship Silver Medals (3)
      • 110m Hurdles – Isaiah Olige – 14.75
      • 400m Hurdles – Isaiah Olige – 51.68
      • Triple Jump – R’Lazon Brumfield – 15.50m (50’10.25”)

    • OVC Outdoor Track and Field Championship Bronze Medals (1)
      • 400m – Chris Givens – 48.16

  • R’Lazon Brumfield (Triple Jump) and Isaiah Olige (400m Hurdles) qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round in Tampa, Fla. during the outdoor season. Brumfield took 21st in the triple jump with a distance of 15.29m (50’2”). Olige placed 26th in the 400m hurdles in 51.86.

  • Tennessee State men’s track and field won the Ohio Valley Conference Team Sportsmanship Award for the outdoor season.

  • TSU Director of Track and Field Chandra Cheeseborough-Guice served as an assistant coach for USA at the IAAF World Indoor Championships on March 1-4 in Birmingham, U.K.

  • During the cross country season, freshman Larry McNary was the team’s top finisher in the final four events. Freshman Marcus Abdul, who was the team’s top finisher in the first event of the season, placed second on the team in the final four meets.
