Charlottesville, Va. --- Chris Seibel finished in the top 20 to guide Tennessee State University to an 11th place finish at the Cavalier Golf Classic hosted by the University of Virginia.
Seibel entered the final round at Birdwood Golfcourse in 34th place, but fired the 36-hole tournament's second lowest round, a 3-under 69, to make up the deficit and finish among the top performers. Seibel placed 11th and carded a 3-over 147 for the event.
TSU had four other players in the field, including Ryan Smith who finished tied for 44th and shot rounds of 77 and 79 (156). Richard Gill (53rd) carded a 159 (79-80) while Cameron Scitern (56th) recorded a score of 160 (82-78). Chris McKay rounded out the scorers for TSU with a 173 (87-86) and a 68th place finish.
Host Virginia claimed the tournament title, finishing 20 strokes ahead of the field with a 575 (291-284). Seton Hall (595) claimed second while Longwood University (599) finished third.
The Tigers will conclude the 2010 season by competing in the PGA National Minority Championship in Port St. Lucie, Florida, May 6-9.
