BIG BLUE INTERCOLLEGIATE GALLERY

 

  • The 2017-18 Tennessee State Men’s Golf team placed ninth at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships.
  • The Tigers highlighted their season with a 2nd place finish at the Big Blue Intercollegiate (4/9-10).
  • TSU posted two top five finishes, finishing fourth at the Grover Page Classic (3/12-13) and fifth at the Skyhawk Fall Classic (10/2-3), both hosted by UT Martin.
  • The Tigers best 36-hole team score (609) came at the MTSU Intercollegiate (10/30).
  • TSU posted a 13-over, 865, at the Murray State Invitational (9/11-12) marking their top 54-hole event of the season.
  • John Tyminski claimed two Top-5 finishes on the season.
  • The Tigers combined for six Top-10 finishes.
  • Jermey Fultz and Scotty Hudson joined Tyminski with two top placings apiece.

Senior, Jermey Fultz

  • Played in eight events, 23 rounds on the year.
  • Craded a 68 on two occassions during his final campaign as a Tiger.
  • Recorded his first during the third round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate (3/20).
  • His second came during the final round of the Big Blue Intercollegiate (4/10).
  • Fired a career best 214 during a 54-hole event at the BBI (4/9-10).
  • Placed 7th at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate hosted by Tennessee Tech.
  • Finished 8th at the Big Blue Intercollegiate.

Senior, Kody Rendleman

  • Played in eight events, consisting of 23 rounds.
  • Carded a 1-under, 71, during the second round of the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, matching his career low.
  • Shot a career best for a 36-hole event with a 156 at the MTSU Intercollegiate (10/30).
  • Carded a 223 for a career best for a 54-hole tournament at the Murray State Intercollegiate (9/11-12).

Junior, Rosario Falzone

  • Played in eight events, 23 rounds, during junior season.
  • Shot a career low 69 in the first round of the season while playing at the MSU Intercollegiate (9/11).
  • The score guided him to a career best finish of 11th, as well as a career best score (214) for a 54-hole tournament.
  • His best 36-hole score was a 156 at the MTSU Intercollegiate, which was a career best.
  • Cut a stroke off his average for the second consecutive year.

Junior, Sam Gatlin

  • Played in five tournaments, amassing 14 rounds.
  • Low round of the year came during the first 18-holes of the Murray State Intercollegiate (9/11).
  • Top 36-hole tournament was at the MTSU Intercollegiate (10/30) after shooting a 163.
  • Recorded a 225 for 54-holes on two seperate occasions.
  • First came at the MSU Intercollegiate (9/11-12) during the opening tournament.
  • Matched the score at the Big Blue Intercollegiate (4/9-10).

Junior, Scotty Hudson

  • One of two Tiger golfers to play all nine events and 26 rounds.
  • Averaged 74.8 per round, shaving five strokes off his sophomore campaign.
  • Shot a career low 69 during the first round of the Big Blue Intercollegiate (4/9)
  • The round helped him earned his second eighth place finish, matching a career best.
  • Placed eighth at the MTSU Intercollegiate (10/30) where he posted a personal best for a 36-hole tournament with a 146.
  • Carded a career best for a 54-hole event with a 214 at the Murray State Intercollegiate.

Junior, Drew Owens

  • Played 20 rounds, while participating in seven tournaments on the year.
  • Set a new career best for a 36-hole tournament with a 155 at the MTSU Intercollegiate (10/30).
  • Posted a new career low with a 67 during the second round of the Big Blue Intercollegiate (4/9).
  • The score matched John Tyminski for the single best round for the Tigers in 2017-18.
  • Notched his seasons best finish (17th) and 54-hole low (220) at the BBI.

Sophomore, Jay Grove

  • Played in three events and nine rounds.
  • Recorded career bests for low round, a 54-hole event, and finish.
  • Placed 12th at the Big Blue Intercollegiate (4/9-10).
  • Broke the 70 stroke mark for the first time in his collegiate career with a second round 69 on April 9.
  • The low score guided him to a 5-over, 218, for the BBI.
  • The 218 snapped his previous best of 231 by 13 strokes.

Sophomore, John Tyminski

  • Joined Scotty Hudson as the only two Tiger golfers to play all nine events and 26 rounds.
  • Earned two Top-5 placings during his sophomore campaign.
  • Finished second at the Big Blue Intercollegiate (4/9-10).
  • Placed fifth at the Grover Page Classic (3/12-13).
  • Carded a new career low with a 67 during the second round of the Murray State Intercollegiate (9/11).
  • The 67 was equaled by Drew Owens for the single best round for the Tigers in 2017-18.
  • Fired a 54-hole 213 at the BBI (4/9-10), edging out his previous best 214 at Murray State (9/11-12).
  • Registered a 156 at the MTSU Intercollegiate for a new low for a 36-hole tournament.
