RICHMOND, Ky. --- The Tennessee State men's golf team struggled on day one of the EKU Intercollegiate. The Tigers combined for a 28-over, 611, and sit in 12th of the 12 team field. UT Martin and Northern Kentucky share the lead at 1-over.

Freshman Kamren James posted the best round of the day for the Tigers with a 2-over, 72, during the afternoon session. James fired a 76 over the first 18 holes to score in both rounds for the Tigers. Tyler Woods and Lane Hooper both registered countable scores in both rounds.

During the second round, Woods hit driver down the right side of the fairway on the Par-5, 520 yard, 2nd. The senior hit a 3-iron from 230 yards out to 25 feet, where he two putted for birdie.

Landon Alboert marked for the Tigers in the first round, while Allen Stokes cut 11 strokes off his morning tally to score for TSU in the second. Allen highlighted his day during the afternoon round on the Par-3, 5th. The freshman hit a 6-iron fade shot off the tee 165 yards uphill into the wind and stuck the ball three inches from the hole, setting up a birdie.

Day Two: The final round will take place on Sunday with a Shotgun Start at 8:00 a.m. CT. The forecast calls for a high of 90.

Landon Albert (75-84=159)

  • Made 11 pars and two birdies in round one
  • Had seven pars in round two 

Kamren James (76-72=148)

  • Hit 12 of 18 greens in the first round
  • Hit 14 of 18 greens in the second round
  • Used 27 putts in round one and 24 in the second
  • Played the Par-3s at Even, fourth best performance through two rounds
  • Played the Par-5s at 1-Under, fourth best result on day one
  • Carded nine pars and three birdies in the morning session
