SETTING THE STAGE: Coming off a 2-1 record in the fall, the Tennessee State men’s tennis team opens the spring season with matches versus Arkansas Pine Bluff on Saturday and Sunday at the Hadley Park Bubble.
TEAM LEADERS: Daniel Bernal (Bogota, Colombia) has posted a team-high five singles victories this season. Two of Bernal’s victories have come at the No. 1 singles slot in dual matches. In doubles, Bernal has paired with Grant Maddox (Greenbrier, Tenn.) for a 3-0 doubles record. The pairing of Kyle Burton (Madison, Tenn.) and Shashank Nautiyal (Delhi, India) has also accumulated three doubles wins.
LAST TIME OUT: Last time the Tigers were in action was Nov. 6 when TSU earned a 7-0 victory over Christian Brothers at the Hadley Park Bubble. TSU swept the three doubles matches before taking all six of the singles matches in straight sets.
ABOUT ARKANSAS PINE BLUFF: The Golden Lions are 0-3 on the season with two losses to Oral Roberts and one loss to Ouachita Baptist. Arkansas Pine Bluff is led by Head Coach James Cowan IV. Jualon Greig and Simon Lewis have split time at the top two singles spots this spring for the Golden Lions.
