Men's Tennis 2016-17 Season Recap

  • Tennessee State men’s tennis finished the 2016-17 season 7-10 overall and 1-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
  • TSU finished the season with a 4-2 home record and a 1-6 record on the road.
  • On three different occasions the Tigers won two consecutive games during the season.
  • The Tigers 1-5 conference record is the best in the last 12 years.
  • TSU made the OVC tournament for the first time since 2003.
  • Kyle Burton led the team with 10 singles wins on the season.
  • Kyle Burton, Tom Parant, Jorge Rodriguez and Shashank Nautiyal all registered a team high eight doubles wins.
  • A win against Eastern Illinois propelled the Tigers to the OVC tournament and gave TSU back-to-back seasons with a conference win.
  • Seven student-athletes were named Academic Achievers during the Fall Semester.
  • Kyle BurtonJorge Rodriguez and Grant Maddox all recieved Co-Top Male Academic Excellence Awards.
