Men's Tennis Falls to Alabama A&M, 4-3

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- Tennessee State men's tennis took a tumble Tuesday afternoon at Alabama A&M as the Tigers fell 4-3 to the Bulldogs on the Bulldog Tennis Courts. 

Big Blue came out strong clinching the doubles point on courts two and three. Serbian duo Stefan Koruga and Pavle Popovic improved to 4-6 on the season with a 6-3 victory at No. 2 over Carlos Salas and Mateo Monroy. Shashank Nautiyal and Tanishq Mahendru followed closely behind defeating Cristian Bigott and Fermin Ruiz Gespo 6-1 on court three to improve to 3-7 on the year. 

With the momentum needed to enter singles play confidently, the Tigers took the Bulldog courts ready to dominate. 

Koruga notched his second win of the afternoon with a win over Carlos Salas at No. 2, 6-0, 6-1. Nautiyal struggled in his first set, falling to Nishangan Nadaraja 6-4, but forced a tiebreaker set with a 6-2 score in set two. Nadaraja picked up steam to repeat his first set, 6-4 closing out the No. 1 singles match, and giving the Bulldogs its first point. Mahendru also came up big for the Tigers improving his dual singles record to 7-5 with a win at No. 5, 6-3, 6-4. 

UP NEXT: The Tigers host Eastern Kentucky at the Currey Tennis Center, Saturday at 3 p.m.
