TIGERBELLES START INDOOR SEASON ATMIDDLE TENNESSEE CHRISTMAS CLASSIC
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University Tigerbelles opened the 2005-06 indoor season at the MTSU Christmas Classic highlighted by Latheria Lewis' continued dominance in the shot put. TSU took first place in another field event. Abby Champion took won the pole vault with top vault of 9.0 feet. Lanika Horn was fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 5-00. In the running events, Dominique Ward captured second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.76 seconds just behind winner MTSU's Kerry Barrow with a time of 56.49 seconds. Tierra Boyd came in third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.68 seconds. Felicia Jeffers took third in the 800-meters with time of 2:20.51 behind Vanderbilt's Latisha Bryant, 2:19.42 and Marjorie Gombert of MTSU-2:19.52. The TSU "A" Team was second in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:51.71 behind Western Kentucky's 3:48.38. Newcomer Toya Sessoms finished fourth in the long jump with a 17'10" jump and also displayed her versatility with a fifth-place showing in the 55-meter dash with a 7.36 timing. Teams from host Middle Tennessee, Vanderbilt, TSU, and Western Kentucky competed along with individual athletes. The Tigerbelles next meet will be their Ed Temple Meet in the Gentry Center on Jan. 8, 2006.
