TSU CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY: The Tigerbelles are the reigning OVC Indoor Champions and have won a total of six indoor championships (2002, 2003, 2008, 2014, 2016). On the men’s side, the Flying Tigers are looking for their first OVC team title.

AT LAST YEAR’S EVENT: The Tigerbelles won their fifth Ohio Valley Conference Indoor title at last year’s Championship at the Gentry Center. TSU’s women’s team scored 124 points, finishing 25 ahead of second-place Eastern Illinois with 99. In addition to the Tigerbelles capturing first in the 4x400m relay, Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) won the 200m, 55m hurdles and triple jump to go with victories for Clairwin Dameus in the long jump and pentathlon.

The Flying Tigers earned a third-place finish with 132.5 points, just 7.5 away from EIU in first with 140 points. Quamel Prince (Nashville, Tenn.) secured first in the 800m on the men’s side.

OVC WEEKLY AWARDS: Quamel Prince (Nashville, Tenn.) has won adidas OVC Track Athlete of the Week four times this season with Kareem Nicholas (Atlanta, Ga.) adding OVC Field Athlete of the Week once. For the women, Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) is a three-time adidas OVC Track Athlete of the Week to go with one OVC Field Athlete of the Week award. Also picking up OVC Field Athlete of the Week awards were Cyra Beard (Jackson, Tenn.) and Daimer Gordon (Ellenwood, Ga.).
