Brumfield Earns 21st in Triple Jump at NCAA East Preliminary

TAMPA, Fla. --- On a rainy afternoon at the USF Track and Field Stadium, Tennessee State men’s track and field freshman R’Lazon Brumfield earned 21st place in the triple jump at the NCAA East Preliminary Round to bring an end to TSU’s season.

  • Brumfield’s top triple jump distance of the day of 15.29m (50’2”) came on his second attempt.
  • On his other jumps, Brumfield reached 15.09m (49’6.25”) on his first attempt and 15.05m (49’4.5”) on his third attempt.
  • The Ohio Valley Conference’s Indoor Freshman of the Year was seeded 31st in the region and finished 10 spots better than his seed.
  • Among freshman in the field, Brumfield finished third behind Alabama’s Christian Edwards in ninth and Florida’s Enzo Hodebar in 16th.
