NASHVILLE — Michael Willingham Jr. could’ve taken a breather after setting a school record in the javelin throw Friday, but the sophomore wasn’t done yet.

Willingham Jr. chalked up two top-10 finishes to place 10th in the shot put with a mark of 13.45m and seventh in the discus throw with a mark 46.78. The sophomore from Stone Mountain, Ga. delivered a prolific throw of 52.94 in the javelin Friday at the Memphis Invitational to set a school record.

TSU had four other Flying Tigers to end the day in the top-10. Freshman Montaive Lightner got into the action when he placed seventh in the 100-meter dash with a hot time of 10.87. Desmond Tanner blazed through the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.08.

Damon Hodge Jr. has caught fire as of late with the Flying Tigers, who placed seventh out of 36 competitors in the 400-meter dash. Hodge Jr. finished with a time of 49.36.

Another freshman joined in the fun in Michael Thompson. The Miami, Fla. native placed ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.69.

The TSU track and field team will have an off week before traveling to Cape Girardeau, Mo. for the OVC Outdoor Championship.
