Moments in TSU History: Volleyball Wins 2007 OVC Tournament Championship

After finishing fourth in the regular season, the 2007 Tennessee State volleyball team won three straight matches in the conference tournament, earning the OVC Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Kelly Davis earned MVP honors while teammates Collese Dornan and Endia Oliver joined Davis on the All-Tournament team.

The Tigers clawed to a 14-6 conference record during the regular season, putting them behind the tri-champions of Jacksonville State, Morehead State and Southeast Missouri.

TSU drew the fifth-seeded Murray State Racers in the opening round of the OVC Tournament, and made quick work of them, winning the match 3-0.

Up next for Tennessee State was number one-seed Jacksonville State. After dropping the first set, the Tigers came roaring back to take the next three sets and earn a spot in the OVC Championship.

TSU fed off of the last match's momentum, winning the first two sets over Morehead State in the final. However, fatigue may have caught up to the Tigers as Morehead State won the next two sets. With the match tied at two sets apiece, the teams traded blows in the fifth and final set until Tennessee State pulled away to a 15-12 set win.

The key to the tournament was TSU's defense. The 2007 team led the conference in blocks with 3.12 per game and opponent hitting percentage (.160).
