NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State University student-athletes closed out another successful spring semester in the classroom.
A total of 128 student-athletes earned a 3.0 grade point average to qualify for the spring semester Honor Roll, with an overall department GPA of 3.152.
The men’s tennis team edged out the women’s golf team for the highest team GPA in the department with a 3.896 average. On the women's side, golf secured the top spot for all female sports with a 3.633. Softball continued its streak of earning the highest GPA of large sports at TSU with a 3.397, while the Tiger volleyball team completed the semester with a 3.317 team GPA, placing second among large female sports.
Men’s track and field took the top spot in large male sport category, receiving a 2.800 GPA for the spring, with men’s basketball placing second with a 2.579 team average.
TSU’s graduate student-athletes collaborated to finish the semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA, while the 37 seniors, who crossed the stage in May, earned the highest average of undergraduates with a 3.251.
