TSU Men's Tennis Awarded OVC Team Academic Achievement Award

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Tennessee State men’s tennis team has been awarded the Ohio Valley Conference Team Academic Achievement Award for its performance in the classroom during the 2017-2018 school year. The award is presented annually in each conference-sponsored sport to the member institution’s team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved a 3.25 grade point average or higher.

Seven of TSU’s players earned a 3.25 grade point average or higher during the 2017-18 academic year. This marks the second-straight year the Tennessee State men’s tennis program has won the award.  TSU and fellow Middle Tennessee team, Austin Peay tied for this year’s men’s tennis award.

  • The Team Academic Achievement Awards date back to the 2004-05 academic year when the OVC awarded Tennessee State’s men’s golf team with the award.
  • The men’s golf team is the only other TSU program to earn the award, winning three seasons in-a-row: 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07.
