Tigers (2-15)
2017: 12-37, 2-19

The Tigers secured their first two wins of the season with a 7-5 win over Drexel and a 9-0 run rule victory over Cornell. TSU finished 2-3 on the weekend at the Hatter Classic, hosted by Stetson, in DeLand, Fla. The Tigers look to continue pick up where they left off in a home contest against Memphis on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Tiger Field. Sophomore corner infielder Megan Huppee was forced into the circle due to injuries and was named to the all-Hatter Classic team for her efforts. Huppee pitched for the first time in five years and registered the first win of the season for TSU. Lauren Powell earned the second win for the Tigers as she blanked the Big Red, allowing just five hits. The shutout was the first of her career.

Offensively, three Tigers batted .500 over the three day tournament. Kierra Ware joined Huppee on the all-Tournament team as she went 4-for-8 at the plate with two walks for a .600 on base percentage. Ware hit her first career a triple, while scoring three runs and stealing three bases. The outfielder also made a defensive gem as she charged a hard, sinking line drive, before laying out for the diving catch. Katie Schneider had six knocks on the weekend in 12 at bats and collected two walks to post a .571 on base percentage. The freshman collected hits in four of the five games and recorded multiple hit games in the Tigers two wins. Schneider hit two doubles, drove in three and crossed home plate four times. Reese Weber, like Ware, went 4-for-8 at the dish. Weber added a double against Cornell.
