QUICK HITTERS: Tennessee State volleyball hosts its final weekend at home, Nov. 2 and 3. Big Blue welcomes Tennessee Tech for a Friday evening match in Kean Hall, with first serve at 6 p.m. TSU closes out its home schedule with senior night, honoring sole senior Rachel Henderson, Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Tigers travelled to the homes of TTU and JSU earlier in the season, defeating both teams in four. Big Blue is looking to turn last season's five-set losses versus the Golden Eagles and Gamecocks in Kean to victories.

LAST TIME OUT: Last week in volleyball, the Tigers took on crosstown-rival Belmont and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

TSU opened with a mid-week match versus the Bruins where the team dropped its seventh five-set match of the season, 17-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-9 in the Curb Event Center. Three Tigers posted double-doubles: Julia Pierson registered her 10th double-double of the season with 12 kills and 14 digs; Laken Te’o registered her 14th with 40 assists and 10 digs; Rachel Henderson registered her fifth with 12 kills and 10 digs. Aria Holmes finished with six blocks, leading both teams.

Big Blue closed out its last road trip at SIUE, falling to the Cougars in four, 24-26, 25-20, 25-15, 26-24. Henderson led the Tiger offense with 17 kills while freshman Holmes led Big Blue in total blocks for the third match in-a-row with four. Gina Rivera Ortiz had her eighth match of the season registering 20+ digs, with 23 versus the Cougars.

The Tigers are ranked seventh in the league.

SCOUTING TECH: The Golden Eagles have fallen in the Ohio Valley Conference rankings, now sitting at 11th. TTU is just 1-8 in away matches this fall, with sole road win over Western Illinois. Standout outside hitter Ali Verzani is the top offensive threat for Tech, averaging 2.93 kills per set. The team is ranked fourth in the league in blocks and third in service aces.

SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE STATE: The Gamecocks' setter Lexie Libs ranks third in the league averaging 10.39 assists per set. Three JSU hitters are ranked top ten in hitting percentage, claiming the most spots in the league and granting them the third spot in kills per set, assists per set and hitting percentage.

UP NEXT: The Tigers close out the regular season with trips to Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky, Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m, and Saturday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m, respectively.
