NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State volleyball is in full swing of fall camp. Day two was marked by great improvement and team effort to get ready for this upcoming season.
Three returners commented on how they feel after the first practice with the newcomers.
“I’m ready to see how everything comes into play this season. We have been through a lot this past season, so to see the talent we have now, I know we’re ready.” commented senior Julia Pierson.
“I’m excited to see the lineup and the freshman on the court. We have been doing really well. I’m just ready to see how we are going to do,” said sophomore Gina Rivera Ortiz.
“Camp has been going really well. We started off with some individual practices and a team practice for the first time and I believe it went really well. We have some good pieces of the puzzle,” remarked senior Khalia Jordan.
Practice began with a warm-up and then team-on-team play. Hitting, blocking and serving exercises followed. Huge improvements in the area of communication made this team and head coach Donika Sutton proud. After finishing, they gathered around for positive feedback from Sutton.
Tonight, they will host a scrimmage for day three of camp at 7 p.m. in Gentry Center.
