NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State women's basketball team took a key victory in the Lady Tigers' quest to gain a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament with a 62-57 victory over Murray State Thursday night. TSU senior guard LaKisha Clay sank all four free throw attempts in the final 29 seconds of regulation to seal the victory for TSU. The Lady Tigers stopped MSU on successive trips on the offensive end to gain the win. TSU led for good after a Kendra Bailey layup gave TSU a 47-45 lead with 9:18 remaining. TSU would lead by as many as six points the rest of the way while MSU was able to pull back to within two points three other times. Leslie Dean scored 18 points to lead TSU (8-16, 5-8). LaKisha Clay scored 12 and senior guard Quanecia Fletcher posted a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Fletcher also had seven assists and five steals. TSU overcame 15-of-31 free throw shooting. MSU also had its trouble at the charity stripe, making 7-of-18 attempts. Murray (10-15, 5-9) was led by Ashley Hayes who scored 16 points off the bench. TSU hosts Tennessee-Martin Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
