NASHVILLE --- Following her first season as the head coach of the Tennessee State University women’s basketball team, Jessica Kern will host two camps through her foundation this summer.
“My heart overflows with joy as we move into our first Jessica Kern Foundation summer camps,” said Kern. “Not only has the amount of teams that have registered been above and beyond what we expected - the support from the city of Nashville has been amazing as well.”
The Jessica Kern Foundation Team Basketball Camp will welcome 14 teams to the Gentry Center June 15-16 for two days of competition while offering information that will improve knowledge of the rules on the collegiate level.
“Our team camp gives young female student-athletes an additional opportunity to display their talents versus high level competition. This camp includes rules education as well as the opportunity to play in front of TSU Coaches, collegiate officials and in a competitive collegiate environment.”
Each team will have the opportunity to play at least three games against opponents from the Nashville, Memphis, Birmingham and Huntsville area.
In August, the Jessica Kern Foundation Individual Elite Camp will have a one-day clinic for basketball players ages 13-18. This camp will provide quality instruction from experienced coaches and student-athletes.
“Elite Camp is an invite-only camp that allows the TSU staff to take a look at players prior to the July evaluation period. We are even more excited that players were willing and wanting to see what we have to offer here at the historic Gentry Center.”
