Campbell Top Performer for T'Bells
Nashville, Tenn. - Tennessee State University women's track and field hosted the 9th Annual Ed Temple Classic in which four Tigerbelles and a relay team finished in the top three.
Freshman Tanesha Campbell posted a career best in the shot put and weight throw in her Tigerbelle home debut. Campbell finished second overall in the shot put with a throw of 45 feet 2.5 inches (13.40 meters) while placing fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 51 feet 11.25 inches. Campbell's second place in the shot put is her highest individual rank of the indoor season.
Martinique Guice finished third in the long jump (18 feet 5 inches - 5.61 meters) while running a season best in the 55-meter dash (7.23 seconds - 5th) and 200-meter dash (26.51 seconds - 8th).
Jasmine Jacobs, a transfer from Eastern Kentucky, and Rahab Kagaruki took third in their events. Jacobs finished the mile run with a time of 6:05.38 and Kagaruki completed her event with a 2:24.24 clocking.
The distance medley relay also gathered a third place finish. The team of Jaleeca Jacobs (1200m leg), Jasmine Jacobs (400m leg), Rahab Kagaruki (800m leg) and Camille Zaidieh (1600m leg) ran a time of 14:00.82.
The Tigerbelles will resume action when they travel to Carbondale, Ill. to compete in the SASF Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois, Jan. 16-17th.
