MURRAY, Ky. --- Tennessee State completed the first two rounds of the Jan Weaver Invitational hosted by Murray State on Friday. The Tigers carded a 684, 108-over, at the 6,017 yard, Par-72, Miller Memorial Golf Course.

Savannah Szozda converted 12 pars to shoot a 6-over, 78, through the first 18 holes. Szozda got up-and-down on the par-4, 11th, after finding the rough off the tee box and the sand on her second shot. Her shot out of the trap landed eight feet from the flag, setting up the par putt. Szozda fell off the pace in the second round with a 15-over, 87.

Natalie Spicer sits two strokes behind Szozda after recording an 82 in the morning session and an 85 in the afternoon. Spicer hit 19 of 28 fairways and 15 greens on the day. Spicer earned her lone birdie of the day on the par-5, 13th, as she hit a gap wedge from 45 yards out to ten feet of the flag.

Paige Harlin carded back-to-back 85’s on day one of the two day event. Harlin highlighted the first round with a putt from the fringe on No. 4 to save par. In the second round, Harlin hit a 3-wood on her second shot on the par-4, 3rd, to six feet of the hole. The sophomore drained the putt for birdie.

Haleigh Riley (92-90=182) scored for the Tigers in both rounds, while Morgan Rood (93-92=185) finished out of the team scoring in each round.
