My TSU Experience: Raven Davis

NASHVILLE --- Raven Davis recently completed her collegiate career with the Tennessee State women’s track and field team, graduating from the university in May. A transfer from Cloud County Community College, Davis was one of the top sprinters for the Tigerbelles over the last two seasons.

She improved throughout her time in Nashville, setting a number of personal records as a senior in 2016-17. Davis was also a member of the Tigerbelles’ 4x100m relay team that earned the gold medal at the 2016 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championship.

She shared her experience with TSUTigers.com

TSUTigers: Talk about your overall TSU experience.
A: Bitter sweet and short lived. Being a transfer student, I didn’t get the full four-year college experience, but the time I spent here I will cherish forever.

TSUTigers: What do you love most about TSU?
A: The love and the environment here on campus

TSUTigers: What will you miss most about TSU?
A: My coaches, my team, and all my friends I made here.

TSUTigers: What is your most memorable moment in your sport at TSU?
A: Winning the OVC Indoor Championship

TSUTigers: What is your most memorable non-sport moment at TSU?
A: Becoming a member of HIP ‘Notyze Dance Troupe

TSUTigers: What are some accomplishments/goals that you reached at TSU?
A: Dean’s list, OVC champion team member, Leadership Team of FCA

TSUTigers: What advice would you give to incoming freshman?
A: Your GPA as a freshman is the most important to keep up.

TSUTigers: What was your most challenging class at TSU?
A: Literature was super tough

TSUTigers: Who was your favorite professor?
A: Dr. Jason Smith

TSUTigers: What organizations were you a part of outside of your sport?
A: Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Hip'Notyze Dance Troupe

TSUTigers: Who have been the most influential people to you at TSU?
A: Mr. Jeremy Perry and My Coaches

TSUTigers: What’s next for you?
A: Hopefully graduate school to get my Masters in sports administration

TSUTigers: Once you are an alumnus, how will you stay connected with TSU?
A: Social media

TSUTigers: What have you learned at TSU that you will keep with you for the rest of your life?
A: You have to go out and get it if you want it.

TSUTigers: Is there anything else that you would like to say to the TSU family?
A: Thanks for anything and everything!! Made my last two years of undergrad great.
