Tigerbelles Compile 10 Top-10 Finishes in Competitive Field at Vulcan Invitational

FINAL RESULTS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Tigerbelles roared into the Vulcan Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. on Saturday and delivered nine top-10 finishes and two top-20 finishes. The wings of Angel Horton sprouted in her home state of Alabama as she leaped to a first place finish in the triple jump.

Horton cleared a distance of 11.74m in the triple jump to claim the event title.

Coming off an Ohio Valley Conference Co-Field Athlete of the Week award, Grenetria Shell continues to show why she’s one of the best athletes in the conference. Shell tallied two top-5 finishes at the Vulcan Invite. Shell placed second in the long jump with a distance of 5.63m and fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.78.

The Tennessee State women’s track and field team displayed a solid performance in the high jump and shot put. Jalyn Bowen and Tigerbelle teammate Kassandra Sanders tied for third in a competitive 22 competitor field in the high jump. They both jumped a distance of 11.64m. Mikayla Thompson finished in third place in the shot put, throwing a distance of 15.08m.
