NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State University women's basketball team dropped a, 68-52, decision to Tennessee Tech Thursday night in the Gentry Center.
TSU trailed by two after the first quarter but got outscored, 20-7, in the second period. The home team continued to fight and outscored Tech in the fourth quarter but could not dig out of the hole.
Jaden Wrightsell led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 17 points while
Andreana Wrister scored 16 points and
Jasmine Broner pulled down a team-best five rebounds.
Breannah McCullah and
Andreana Wrister each dished out four assists while Wrister recorded five steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Andreana Wrister knocked down a short jumper to give TSU a 4-3 lead in the first quarter but Tennessee Tech score the next eight points to capture an 11-4 lead.
- A three-pointer by London Fairs sparked a rally by the Lady Tigers that pulled them to within one with two minutes on the clock.
- At the end of the first period, TSU trailed 16-14.
- TTU started the second stanza with a 5-0 run and forced a TSU timeout.
- TSU ended Tech's run with a floater in the paint but the opponents moved ahead, 28-16, after a nearly five-minute scoring drought.
- Taylor Roberts had a three-point play to end the scoring lull around the three minute mark.
- Ultimately, TSU was outscored, 20-7, in the second quarter and trailed, 36-21, at halftime.
- In the third frame, TSU battled but continued to play from behind.
- TSU nearly matched TTU point-for-point in the third period but went in the final frame down, 59-41.
- The Lady Tigers outscored the Golden Eagles, in the fourth quarter but the deficit proved too much too overcome.
GAME NOTES
- Wrister scored in double-digits for the 17th time this season.
- Jaden Wrightsell scored in double-digits for the ninth time this season.
- Outside of the second quarter, TSU was only outscored 48-45 in the other three periods.
