ROME, Ga. — The Tennessee State men's tennis team delivered a strong performance at the 2024 ITA Conference Masters Championships. Taj Hibbert and Rohan Loubser dropped their opening match but finished strong in the consolation bracket, winning the final in a field of 16 after receiving byes through the quarterfinals.
The main draw round of 32 loss was a closely contested match against Luc Koenig and Imran Daniel Abdul Hazil from Baylor, with scores of 7-6 (8-6), 2-6, [7-10].
In the quarterfinals, TSU defeated Jackson State's Ching Chang and Mass Schotanus, 6-4, 7-5. In the semifinals, the duo secured a two-set victory (7-6, 6-2) over Richmond's Davis Wiley and Cole Brashear.
The consolation finals saw another straight-set win, 6-1, 6-4, over NC Central's Hugo Hidalgo Vega and Rodrigo Alves.
Hibbert also competed in singles but exited in the opening round, falling to Tiago Silva from Pacific with scores of 6-4, 0-6, 0-6.
