NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee State women's tennis team opened its spring slate on Friday afternoon, falling 7–0 to Lipscomb University at the Ensworth Tennis Center.
Lipscomb secured the opening point by sweeping doubles play. The Bisons earned wins on courts one, two, and three, including a 6–4 decision at No. 2 doubles and a narrow 6–4 result on court three.
In singles action, Tennessee State battled across all six courts, with several matches extending into competitive second sets. Natalie Walsh pushed her opponent to a 6–3 second set at No. 3 singles, while Victoria Cooksey held steady at No. 4, dropping a pair of 6–2 sets. Jovana Nikolic, Julie Tungamarial, Claudia Murdasanu, and Taylor Ellis also took the court for the Tigers as they gained early-season experience against a deep Lipscomb lineup.
The match marked the season opener for both programs, with Tennessee State moving to 0–1 on the year.
