NASHVILLE — Tennessee State Tigers men's basketball guard Aaron Nkrumah has been named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. It marks the fourth time this season he has earned the honor, the most of any player in the conference.
A 6-foot-6 senior from Worcester, Massachusetts, Nkrumah averaged 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 50 percent (14-of-28) from the field in victories over Lindenwood Lions men's basketball and SIU Edwardsville Cougars men's basketball. The pair of wins kept Tennessee State in a share of first place in the OVC standings.
Nkrumah scored 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting and added 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals in Saturday's win over SIUE, recording his second double-double of the season. He opened the week with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists against Lindenwood.
Nkrumah moved into the OVC scoring lead at 17.71 points per game and ranks second nationally with 77 steals this season.
