Women's Basketball Looks to Bounce Back as OVC Play Continues

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee State women's basketball continues Ohio Valley Conference action as the Lady Tigers prepare for their next matchup, looking to build off a competitive performance against Eastern Illinois.

Tennessee State battled throughout Thursday's contest, forcing 18 turnovers and holding the Panthers to 38.3 percent shooting while receiving balanced contributions across the lineup. Xai Whitfield led the Lady Tigers with 14 points and three assists, while Erin Martin recorded a double-double effort with eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with three blocks.

Brianna Wooldridge provided a spark off the bench, finishing with nine points, seven rebounds, and four steals, helping Tennessee State generate second-chance opportunities and defensive pressure. Aaniya Webb added eight points and an assist, while Somah Kamara chipped in six points and a steal as TSU leaned on bench depth for 22 points.

On the season, Tennessee State averages 57.9 points per game and continues to emphasize physical play inside, averaging 36.2 rebounds per contest. Webb leads the Lady Tigers in scoring at 10.8 points per game, followed by Whitfield at 9.2 and Kamara at 7.6. Martin anchors the interior with a team-best 113 rebounds and 25 blocks, while Wooldridge paces TSU on the offensive glass.

With multiple players contributing on both ends of the floor, Tennessee State will look to turn defensive activity and rebounding into offensive consistency as conference play continues.
