    Tight Ends

Tennessee State alumnus Eddie Woods enters his second season as the Tigers’ tight ends coach in 2026. Woods returned to his alma mater in 2025 following a successful career as one of Middle Tennessee’s most accomplished high school football coaches.

During his first season at TSU, Woods helped develop redshirt freshman Connor Ruth into a contributor at tight end. Ruth appeared in 10 games and recorded eight receptions for 60 yards and two touchdowns after not seeing game action the previous season.

Before joining Tennessee State, Woods compiled a 77-30 record in nine seasons as head coach at Cane Ridge High School. Under his leadership, the Ravens became one of Nashville’s most consistent programs, and Woods helped develop dozens of student-athletes who advanced to the NCAA Division I level.

Woods’ former players include future collegiate and professional standouts from programs across the country. His coaching philosophy emphasizes physical development, discipline, accountability and preparing student-athletes for success beyond football.

As a TSU football alumnus, Woods brings a strong connection to the university and an understanding of the tradition and expectations surrounding the Tigers’ program.
