Julius McNair joined Tennessee State University in July 2024 as Assistant Athletics Director for Strategic Initiatives, bringing extensive experience in athletics development, fundraising, and program advancement.

McNair arrived at TSU following four years at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he served as Associate Athletic Director for Development. During his tenure, he played a key role in advancing Skyhawk Athletics’ fundraising and engagement initiatives. He served on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee within the UT Foundation and contributed to the successful completion of a campus-wide $175 million campaign in fiscal year 2023. His individual fundraising efforts included securing a $1.5 million gift from Pepsi Mid-America while helping generate more than $3.5 million in total support.

McNair’s connection to UT Martin Athletics began as a student-athlete, competing for the Skyhawks football program from 2008 to 2012. Following his playing career, he returned to the program as an assistant football coach and recruiting coordinator from 2014 to 2018, helping lead recruiting operations and student-athlete development initiatives.

His professional experience also includes administrative and coaching roles at Hampton University and the University of Richmond, where he continued to expand his experience in athletic operations, development strategy, and program management.

McNair earned his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2013.

A native of Mt. Olive, Mississippi, McNair is the father of one son, Kingston McNair.
