Latessa Hickerson serves as the Associate Athletics Director for Sports Administration and Compliance Services at Tennessee State University, where she provides strategic leadership across multiple areas of the department. Her oversight includes women’s basketball, the athletics budget office, and external operations, while also ensuring adherence to NCAA and conference regulations.

As the primary sport administrator for women’s basketball, Hickerson works closely with the coaching staff to promote excellence in competitive performance, academic achievement, and program culture. She also leads the athletics budget office, managing fiscal planning, resource allocation, and financial oversight to align with institutional priorities and support long-term success.

In addition, Hickerson provides leadership for the department’s external operations, overseeing marketing, communications, creative content, ticketing, game operations, and sponsorships. Her efforts are centered on driving revenue growth, enhancing brand visibility, and elevating the overall profile of TSU Athletics. She also directs compliance services, implementing education, monitoring, and enforcement strategies to maintain full compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional standards.

A former student-athlete, Hickerson began her collegiate career at Motlow State Community College, where she earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree and ranked among the nation’s top performers in scoring and rebounding. She continued her academic and athletic career at Tennessee State, playing a key role in back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference championships as a member of the Lady Tigers basketball program.

Hickerson earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Performance and Sports Sciences from TSU before completing her Master of Arts in Education in Sports Administration. She is an active member of the National Association for Athletics Compliance and remains dedicated to fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and excellence within collegiate athletics.
