Ryan Conway enters the 2026 season as Tennessee State’s special teams coordinator and running backs coach, bringing a diverse background in coaching, scouting and analytics across the collegiate and professional levels.
Conway spent the 2025 season as the Tigers’ assistant linebackers coach. He helped develop a group that produced TSU’s three leading tacklers in James Stewart, Micah Gay and Sammy Taylor. Stewart earned All-OVC-Big South First Team honors after recording 68 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, three forced fumbles and four pass breakups. Gay added 61 tackles and two interceptions, while Taylor finished with 51 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and a blocked kick.
Before Tennessee State, Conway spent four seasons with the Cleveland Browns as an offensive and scouting assistant. He worked closely with offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea and running backs coach Duce Staley while also contributing to the organization’s pro scouting department.
Conway previously served as an offensive analyst at the University of Pittsburgh and was part of the Panthers’ 2021 ACC championship staff. Earlier in his career, he worked as a data analyst for an economic litigation consulting firm in Washington, D.C., further developing the analytical and strategic skills he brings to coaching.
A Northern Virginia native, Conway earned his bachelor’s degree in economics with honors from the University of Virginia. He and his wife, Cristina, reside in Nashville.
