As a freshman at Contra Costa, McKnight completed 23-of-51 passes for 331 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions in limited action

Lincoln HS

McKnight was a three-year starter for the Jersey City school... He led Lincoln to consecutive state playoff appearances after the school had gone 21 years without qualifying for the tournament... In 2009, his senior season, McKnight threw for 963 yards and 10 touchdowns and he rushed for 412 yards and seven touchdowns... That year, he led Lincoln to an 8-2 record and was named All-Hudson First Team Offense by The Star-Ledger...  He was All-Hudson Second Team Offense as a junior and All-Hudson Third Team Offense as a sophomore.
