VOLLEYBALL COMES UP SHORT AT EIU
October 19, 2007

CHARLESTON, Ill.---Two Lady Tigers posted double-figures in kills but it wasn't enough as the Tennessee State University volleyball team fell to Eastern Illinois 1-3 (22-30, 16-30, 30-28, 23-30) before a record setting crowd of 2,004 at Lantz Arena.

Tennessee State (11-12, 9-5 OVC) hit its second lowest percentage of the season (.054) and only posted 44 kills for the match. Eastern Illinois (10-11, 3-9 OVC) hit .204 and recorded 71 kills in the contest.

After dropping the first two games, TSU won game three to extend the match to a fourth game.

Despite trailing (3-10) early in game four, TSU fought back to cut the deficit down to one (11-12). The Lady Tigers would stay within striking distance until the Panthers, leading by two, (20-18), went on a 10-5 run down the stretch to seal the win.

Kelly Davis led TSU with 13 kills and Collese Dornan added 12. Melissa Silva recorded a team-high 24 digs for the Lady Tigers.

Tennessee State returns to action on Friday, October 26, against Jacksonville State. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
