NASHVILLE---In the final home game of the season, the Tennessee State University volleyball team swept non-conference opponent Chicago State 3-0 (30-18, 30-28, 30-16) Monday night in Kean Hall.
Kelly Davis and Endia Oliver led the Lady Tigers with 13 kills each while Collese Dornan chipped in 10. Junior Christian Lowe also tallied 10 kills for TSU. Sophomore Kamille King tallied a match-high 18 digs and Candace Saleaumua recorded 11. Saleaumua also handed out 43 set assists.
Tennessee State (15-13) hit a respectable .292 for the match while Chicago State (5-23) registered a hitting percentage of .120.
TSU assumed control from the onset of game one. After grabbing a 3-1 lead on a kill from Collese Dornan the Lady Tigers never looked back. Game two was played much closer. TSU managed to build a slight 29-24 lead down the stretch but Chicago State would not go away. The Cougars scored four straight points to cut the deficit to one (28-29). Tennessee State, however, was able to keep Chicago State at bay and seal the win on a kill by Endia Oliver.
With the score tied 7-7 in game three, TSU went on a 9-1 run to swell the lead to 16-8. Chicago State never recovered as TSU went on to win 30-16. The Lady Tigers hit a match-best .354 in game three.
Tennessee State returns to action this Friday at Murray State. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
