Tigers Swept by Redhawks

Cape Girardeau, Mo. --- Tennessee State volleyball fell to Southeast Missouri in three (25-13, 25-16, 25-16) Friday night in Houck Field House.

Tennessee State (4-10, 3-4 OVC) totaled 28 kills and turned in an attack percentage of .053 while Southeast Missouri (7-6, 5-2 OVC) recorded 38 kills and hit .328 for the match.

A kill by Christian Lowe gave TSU the first point of the match but four unanswered points for SEMO gave the Redhawks a (4-1) lead that they wouldn't relinquish for the remainder of the set.

Set two was played fairly close until SEMO used a 10-3 run to take a commanding 23-14 lead before going on to win.

A kill from Shawna Ruiz gave TSU a 10-7 lead in the third set before three consecutive SEMO points evened the score 10-10. A SEMO service ace along with four crucial attack errors by the Tigers pushed the Redhawk advantage to 15-10. The Redhawks held on to the lead for the rest of the set.

The Tigers return to action tomorrow when they match-up against the Panthers of Eastern Illinois. Match time is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Lantz Arena.
