Volleyball Falls to Austin Peay

Clarksville, Tenn. --- Despite posting an impressive .439 attack percentage in set three, the Tennessee State University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (19-25, 11-25, 25-23, 15-25) decision to Austin Peay, Friday night at the Dunn Center.

Tennessee State falls to 2-7 (1-3 OVC) while Austin Peay improves to 11-5 (3-1 OVC).

Tailing the match 0-2, TSU claimed set three 25-23 before Austin Peay sealed the match with a 25-15 game four victory.

The Tennessee State offense posted a .224 attack percentage on the night while Austin Peay recorded a .376.

The Lady Tigers used an impressive 20-kill, .439 attack percentage performance in their third-set win. But that would be the highlight of the match as TSU struggled offensively in the other three sets.

Candace Saleaumua led TSU with a career-high 17 kills and a .452 attack percentage. Christian Lowe added 14 kills. Shawna Ruiz led TSU with 13 digs.

Jessica Mollman led APSU with 17 kills while Stephanie Champine added 13.

Tennessee State returns to action next week with a non-conference match-up against the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Tuesday, Sept. 30 in Kean Hall. Match time is slated for 6:00 p.m.
