--- The Tennessee
State University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Alabama-Birmingham
Tuesday night in Bartow Arena.
The set scores were 23-25, 24-26 and 17-25.
The Tigers (2-17) dropped their seventh straight match while
the Blazers improved to 11-10 on the season.

State's offensive
struggles continued as the Tigers tallied 32 kills and a .072 attack
percentage. Alabama-Birmingham
recorded 45 kills and hit .213 for the match. UAB recorded 76 digs compared to
TSU's 60.
Shaquita Williams was the only Tiger to post double-digits
in kills with 10 while Santia Sanders turned in a match-high 22 digs. Yamari
Padilla- Collazo handed out 23 set assists.
Michelle Uzoh and Savannah Pegg led UAB with 12 kills apiece
while Jordan McDonald added 10. Alison
Woods tallied 40 assists.
In the first set, the Tigers built up a 21-14 lead but
couldn't hold off an 11-2 rally that pushed the Blazers to the win. In set two,
the Tigers once again held the lead down the stretch. With TSU leading 22-17,
UAB used a 6-1 run to even the score 23-23. With the frame tied 24-24, UAB
posted the final two points to seal the win.
Set three was played close through the first half. With the
score tied 13-13, UAB used a 7-2 run go ahead 20-15. The Blazers would not
relinquish the lead.
The Tigers will return to conference action on Friday with a
match-up against UT Martin.
