Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Tennessee State University cracked a
five game losing streak picking up an OVC win at Southeast Missouri State,
77-67, Saturday night inside the Show Me Center.
Kenny Moore led all scorers with a career high, 22 points,
from 7-of-12 shooting, while hauling in a game best, nine rebounds.
Wil Peters chipped in 16 points hitting all 10 free throws.
Jacquan Nobles added a season high, 14 points, from 6-of-9 shooting and Robert
Covington pitched in 11.
TSU (2-6, 1-1 OVC) shot 46 percent from the field with the
reserves pitching in 23 points.
The Tigers led from the tip-off holding their largest lead
of the night, 31-12, with 6:51 left in the first half. Moore paced the offense with 12 points
to help TSU lead at the break, 37-23.
In the second half, TSU held off the scare, as the Redhawks
closed the gap, 56-41. TSU
responded with a 17-6 run and would hold off SEMO's effort for the final score.
SEMO (0-8, 0-2) suffered their 16th straight
loss, 12th in Ohio Valley Conference play, while shooting 43 percent
from the floor. Three players finished in double figures for the Redhawks with
Leon Powell recording a team-high 18 points. He also finished with five
rebounds and shot 7-of-11 from the field.
Lucas Nutt and Anthony Allison each finished with 17 points.
Lucas dished out a game-high, five assists to go with five rebounds. He shot
5-of-5 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the line.
The Tigers will face non-conference foe, Alabama A&M, in
Huntsville, Ala. on Tuesday, Dec. 7. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Elmore
Gymnasium.
