The set scores were: 25-26, 25-27, 25-23, 25-15.

With the win, Tennessee State improved to 12-7 (8-4 OVC) while Eastern Kentucky fell to 11-12 (6-6 OVC).

Rebecca Moudree led the Tigers with a career-high 15 kills while Shaquita Williams registered 13. Terakka Walker chipped in 12 kills and 11 digs for a double-double while also recording five blocks in the contest. Britani Hathorn paced the TSU defense with 19 digs. Danielle Howell led the team with six blocks.

Eastern Kentucky was led by Hanna Burkle with 15 kills while Ashley Edmond tallied 10. Dena Ott turned in 15 digs for the Colonels.  

The teams played point-for-point in the opening set until TSU used a run to go ahead 13-8. EKU called a timeout in attempt to halt the momentum but TSU continued to roll. The Tigers stretched the advantage to 18-10 behind a kill from Rebecca Moudree before going on to win, 25-16.

After playing to a 6-6 deadlock in the second set, three straight points from EKU saw TSU fall behind, 9-6. The Tigers, however, answered with a small rally to pull even. With the score knotted at 11-all, TSU outscored the visitors 7-2 to capture an 18-13 lead. The Colonels would not go away though as they continued to chip away at the deficit. TSU was leading, 24-22, when EKU survived a couple of set points. The score was tied, 25-25, when a TSU attack error followed by an EKU block gave the Colonels the win.

In the third set, the scored was tied when TSU used a small spurt to go ahead, 15-10. This led to an EKU timeout. Out of the break, the Colonels started to gain momentum as they outscored the Tigers 12-4 to capture a 22-19 lead. Moments later, a kill by Shaquita Williams capped a rally that made the score 22-22.  TSU was leading, 24-23, when another kill from Williams sealed the win for the Tigers.

TSU controlled the tempo from the beginning of the fourth set, jumping out to a 7-3 lead. The advantage increased to, 11-5, following consecutive errors by Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels burned their second timeout of the frame after TSU stretched the lead to 14-7 on a service ace by Shaquita Williams. The Tigers swelled the advantage to 21-12 before cruising to the 25-14 victory.

Tennessee State notched 56 kills and hit .203 while Eastern Kentucky only managed 35 kills and a .104 hitting percentage in the match. TSU also held the advantage in digs, 56-41.

The Tigers return to action on Friday, Oct.21 when they face Eastern Illinois on the road. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
