Edwardsville, Ill. --- The Tennessee State University
volleyball team picked up a 3-1 win over SIU Edwardsville Saturday afternoon in
the Vadalabene Center.

back to win three-straight in the victory over SIUE (9-16, 4-9 OVC). The set

After only hitting .171 in the opening set loss, Tennessee
State bounced back with a scorching .576 hitting percentage in the second set
and captured the win, 25-22, to even the match, 1-1.
The third set was a back-and-forth battle that took extra
points to decide. TSU was trailing, 24-23, when a kill by Shaquita Williams
evened the score. The next two plays saw SIUE commit consecutive attack errors
to push TSU to the win.
Much like the third, the fourth set was closely contested.
The teams played to a 20-20 tie before a kill from Rachel Ambroch and two kills
from Terakka Walker put TSU up, 23-20. The Cougars pulled to within one but
timely kills from Danielle Howell and Ambroch helped TSU squeeze out the,
25-23, win.
Tennessee State finished the match with 61 kills behind a
.225 hitting percentage. SIU Edwardsville tallied 59 kills and hit .213.
The Tigers return to action on Friday, Oct. 28 against
Jacksonville State. The Tigers will host the Gamecocks at 7 p.m. in Kean Hall.
