GREENSBORO, N.C. --- In the midst of a six-game road swing, the Tennessee State men's basketball team was handed a 64-54 loss at North Carolina A&T on Friday night at the Corbett Sports Center. Senior guard Delano Spencer scored a game-high 17 points for TSU.

The Tigers (5-4) also received double-digit scoring efforts from Ken'Darrius Hamilton (15) and Kamar McKnight (10).

TSU led for 17:05 of the game, but North Carolina A&T (6-4) shot 46.8 percent from the floor on the night for the win.

The Aggies had double-doubles from Japhet Kadji with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Femi Olujobi with 11 points and 10 boards.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • TSU LEADERS
  • Delano Spencer scored in double figures for the eighth time this season and 19th time in his TSU career.
  • For Ken'Darrius Hamilton, it was his fifth time scoring 10 or more points this season and 13th time in a TSU uniform.
  • Kamar McKnight reached double-digit points for the sixth time this season.
  • TSU committed just 10 turnovers on the night, tying for the second fewest this season.
     

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Delano Spencer made his first three shots and led the way with eight points in the first seven minutes.
  • TSU led by as many as seven points in the first half on two occasions. The second came at the 10:37 mark on a three from Armani Chaney to put the score at 18-11 in favor of the visitors.
  • A 13-0 run by North Carolina A&T gave the Aggies a six-point edge before the Tigers closed the gap to 27-24 heading into the locker rooms for halftime.
  • The momentum quickly swung to TSU with a 7-0 run to open the second half.
  • The lead shifted back to the Aggies, however, with a 12-2 stretch for a 49-39 lead with 6:28 to remaining.  
  • Later in the half, six points in a row from McKnight cut the TSU deficit to 51-45 with just under four minutes to play, but that was as close as the Tigers would get the rest of the way.
