EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. --- The Tennessee State volleyball team fell in four (24-26, 25-20, 25-15, 26-24) to the Cougars of SIUE Saturday afternoon in the Vadalabene Center.
TSU drops to 8-15 overall, 6-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference, while SIUE improves to 8-16, 7-5 in the league.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Julia Pierson began the set with style rejecting the first Cougar attack, registering the first Tiger block. SIUE was the first to ten. Rachel Henderson racked up four kills finding open sports in the middle of the court. Big Blue went on a three-point run forcing an SIUE timeout. A combo block by Holmes and Pierson tied it at 18. Henderson and Fihaki combined for the fourth Tiger block of the set to tie it at 21. Big Blue finished the set on a three-point run into extra points, 26-24.
Big Blue led by five-points halfway through set two. The team finished with 14 kills on 39 attempts and seven errors. The Tiger defense lost its steam, posting only 16 digs and no blocks, while SIUE finished with two blocks, hitting a .314 and two service aces to outpace TSU, 25-20.
The third set came and went as SIUE flowed through with a match-high .355 clip, and an offense spread between outsides Rachel McDonald, Hope Everett and Dylynn Otte. The Cougars took the set, 25-15, one step closer to a win.
TSU quickly went up 4-2 over the Cougars, looking to take it to five sets. Henderson and Te'o connected for a set-high seven kills to continue the Tiger climb over SIUE. Moving to the middle of the set, TSU and SIUE were point-for-point until SIUE pulled ahead with a final three-point run. closing the match 26-24 over TSU.
MATCH NOTES
- The all-time series record between the Tigers and the Cougars is now even, 5-5.
- The Vadalabene Center had an audience of 125 for the match between TSU and SIUE.
