NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ---Â The Tennessee State men's basketball team's second-half push was not enough to win its first road game outside of Middle Tennessee Tuesday night in the Matadome as the Tigers fell to the CSUN Matadors, 80-77.
For the second game in a row, redshirt junior guard Tripp Davis led TSU in scoring, this time with 20 points on the night for Big Blue. TSU also received double-digit scoring efforts from Kamar McKnight (13) and Donte Fitzpatrick-Dorsey (11).
California State University, Northridge cruised past the Tigers in the first half, leading TSU by (48-38), Â outscoring the blue and white 20-12 in the paint.
The Tigers made an offensive comeback, putting up 39 points to CSUN's 32 in the second half, coming up short.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kamar McKnight opened the first half with a 3-point shot and closed it with a buzzer beating jumper.
- The Matadors found open shots with 6-7 forward Lamine Diane and 5-8 guard Terrell Gomez sinking 16 points apiece.
- The lead stretched to 20 by the end of the first period, the largest gap of the game – held by CSUN.
- The Tigers outscored the Matadors in the second half, 39-32, closing the double-digit gap to one possession with only 1:57 on the clock. Â
- A defensive push put the Tigers in reach of a tied ball game before a personal foul gave CSUN's Diane a chance to shoot two, putting the Matadors up by three.
GAME NOTES
- The Tigers are now 1-1 versus CSUN.
- It is the first meeting between the sides since 2004.
